Checking In & Out

Check-In Procedures:

Check-in dates can be found on the Calendar page.  Please be advised that move-in (as well as move-out) dates are non-negotiable.  In order to maintain an orderly move-in/check-in process, special requests to move-in early are generally not approved.  Please make your travel arrangements accordingly.

Once moved into Curtis Hall/The Commons, each resident will receive a Room Condition Form to verify the condition of listed furniture, furnishings, and room surfaces.  Each student is individually responsible for the furniture, equipment, and general condition of the room.  If the student fails to leave the room and its furnishings in the same general condition, appropriate charges will be assessed against the student's account.

Vacation Break Procedures:

Vacation dates can be found on the Calendar page.  These dates are non-negotiable; however, students who are absolutely unable to leave during a vacation break must see the Residential Coordinator to make arrangements for Temporary Housing.

Each room will be checked at closing time by the Residential Life Staff to ensure that all windows and curtains are closed, electronics are unplugged (excluding answering machines and fish tank heaters), the thermostat is set at the appropriate temperature, and doors are locked.

Check-Out Procedures:

Check-out dates can found on the Calendar page.  At the end of the academic year, check-out of Curtis Hall/The Commons involves a Residential Life Staff Member verifying that the student has cleaned their room and bath (if applicable), closed their window, thrown out their trash, and moved their personal belongings out.  A Room Check-Out Form will be distributed to the resident which outlines this process.

If a student is checking out mid-semester or due to an emergency, the Registrar's Office should be contacted first to review their Academy check-out process, which will include checking out with Residential Life.  Check-outs occurring at the end of the fall semester should be completed by the end of their semester finals.  Students notified over the winter break that they must leave due to academic reasons may vacate over the break or following their appeal, if applicable.
