Department of Residential Life
Room Assignments
New/Transfer Students
Room and roommate assignments are are organized by the Residential Coordinator and the Director of Residential Life & Student Services. For Curtis Hall & undergraduate Commons residents, new roommates are matched via their Personal Inventory for Roommate Pairing. Roommate requests will be considered, but the institution reserves the right to assign rooms as it deems necessary. Academy policy does not permit cohabitation, unless married couples occupy a suite in the Graduate Commons. Notification of roommates for the fall semester occurs mid-to-late July, and for the spring semester just after the new calendar year begins.
Returning Students
In general, returning students participate in the Housing Selection process held each spring for Curtis Hall and are able to select their own roommate. Housing in The Commons is assigned through an application process and lottery, both coordinated by the Director of Residential Life & Student Services. There may be times during extended academic breaks (summer or winter breaks) when roommate consolidations are performed in order to accommodate incoming students. In such cases, the involved students will be notified prior to the start of the semester and their arrival back on campus.
Room/Roommate Changes
In both Curtis Hall and The Commons, housing assignments will not be changed or exchanged between students without the EXPRESS PERMISSION of the Residential Coordinator or Director. Nor, in The Commons, will subletting be authorized. The appropriate time frame for such housing moves will be publicized at the start of each semester and coordinated by the Residential Coordinator.
