I still have an unanswered question. How can I find the answer?

What Housing is Available in Curtis Hall?

Download the color-coded Curtis Hall room selection guide.  There are Non-Traditional student rooms and a Quiet Area – in addition to the traditional Independent and Regimental Floors.  All horseshoe rooms are reserved for incoming new students.

What is the Quiet Section Qualification Process?

This housing option allows residents to extend the traditional Curtis Hall quiet hours to allow for an environment more conducive to sleeping and studying.  Students who select a room in this area will sign a Quiet Section Agreement and be held to those standards for the duration of their time in the section.

What’s up with Women’s Housing?

Current Junior women choose with their class while current Sophomores and Freshmen women will pick within their own time block.   Women must pair up in order to fill each quad chosen.

What about for Student Government Association (SGA) Executive Board Officers & the Regimental Wedge?

The incoming SGA Executive Board officers and eligible Wedge members must attend Early Room Selection on Wednesday, March 31, 2010.  Please speak with the primary leader of your organization (Student Body President or Regimental Commander) to determine eligibility and gain further information.

What if I Would Rather Live in The Commons Next Year?

Candidates must already qualify to live off-campus.  All interested students should complete a Prospective Resident 2010-2011 Request There will be a Commons Information Session held on Thursday, March 11th at 5:00 PM in the Harborview Dining Room.

What is the Single Room Policy?

Rooms are primarily assigned as doubles. However, there may be special circumstances that warrant granting a single. Failure to make a roommate choice or choosing a roommate who does not return will make you eligible for Consolidation

If you believe that you have a special circumstance, you must make an appointment with Lauren Garrett at least three days prior to the start of room selection to discuss it.

What is the Consolidation Policy?

People who do not have roommates or lose roommates over the summer to grades or transfer will be subject to consolidation (being combined with any other available roommate).

What if my Roommate is not currently an Academy student?

Requesting to room with a student who is not currently enrolled here (as in a New or Returning from Leave student) cannot be done at this time. Please speak with Lauren Garrett if you have questions concerning this.

What do I need to do PRIOR to Housing Selection?

1.  Attend your RA section meeting and complete your 2010 - 2011 Housing & Dining Contract

2.  Decide on your Roommate.  We must have completed contracts from each roommate. If one cannot attend make sure a Selection Proxy Form is completed.  The process will be delayed if you have not completed these two steps prior to your arrival at Selection.

What happens at Housing Selection?

The process is conducted on a first-come, first-serve basis.  The names of each roommate pair will be recorded on a single slip of paper and put in a box for the draw.  The order of room selection will be determined by the draw/lottery within each group.

In order of pick, head to your chosen floor selection table with your chosen roommate.  If your quadmates are in the same class year and in attendance (or by proxy), they may also accompany you to your chosen floor selection table.  A 1-minute decision rule applies.  Room charts will be updated in the waiting area for your reference.

What if I have a Schedule Conflict with my Room Selection Session?

If you know you will miss your room selection session, designate a representative (a roommate or friend) to pick for you utilizing the Selection Proxy Form

What if I Miss Selection by Mistake?

If you miss your Housing Selection by mistake, you must see Jordan (133 Curtis Hall) ASAP to make arrangements for a room  - or - to let him know you are not coming back to MMA for Fall 2010.

Or what if I select a Curtis Hall Room – and then decide not to return to MMA?

If you sign up for a room in Curtis Hall, and for any reason (this does not apply to dismissals or suspensions) decide over the summer not to return to campus at all, you must notify both the Department of Residential Life and the Registrar’s Office in writing that you are not returning.
